Our hearts are with every family, every community and every home affected by the recent floods and landslides in the Bhotekoshi corridor of Rasuwa and the districts downstream. There are no words that make a loss of this scale easier to carry. What we can do is stand beside those who are carrying it.
Real Dreams is headquartered in the United Kingdom, but Nepal has always been at the centre of what we do. It is one of our largest markets, we have offices in communities across the country, and the great majority of the students and families we work with are Nepalese. When Nepal is hurting, this is not a distant news story to us. It is home.
What Happened Along the Bhotekoshi
On 26 August 2026, a sudden and violent surge of water swept down the Bhote Koshi river from the north, tearing through settlements, markets, roads and bridges in Rasuwa before moving downstream. According to the World Health Organization’s situation reporting, the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan in Bagmati Province, along with Gorkha and Tanahun in Gandaki Province, were affected, and around 10,000 households needed immediate relief assistance.
Homes were lost. Health posts, customs facilities, hydropower plants and long stretches of highway were damaged or destroyed. Hundreds of lives have been lost and many people are still unaccounted for, with assessments continuing. The government has declared the affected areas a disaster zone while rescue, relief and rehabilitation work goes on.
Behind every one of those figures is a family. That is what this appeal is really about.
Why We Chose the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund
We wanted our contribution to reach the people who need it, without delay and without doubt about where it went. The Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund is the Government of Nepal’s official channel for disaster response, it is audited, and it feeds directly into coordinated rescue, relief and rehabilitation work on the ground.
We know that no contribution can undo the loss of a home, a livelihood or a loved one. We offer this in the same spirit the message was written: not as a solution, but as a hand held out. It continues work we have done quietly for years — emergency shelter and material aid after major earthquakes, hunger relief, and sponsoring learning resources for children who would otherwise go without. Our pledge was reported by Educast Nepal on 28 August 2026.
“Our company’s head office is in the United Kingdom, but our roots and our people are in Nepal. Every day we sit with Nepalese families and talk about their children’s futures, and those same families are the ones who have lost homes and loved ones in this disaster. A contribution cannot bring back what has been taken, but standing quietly by is not an option for us. I would ask everyone who has done well because of Nepal to give something back to Nepal now, in whatever measure they can.”

A Message to Our Students and Their Families
Real Dreams has served Nepalese students since 2003, and our branches in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal and Bhairahawa sit in the very communities this disaster has touched. Many of our students and alumni have family in the affected districts.
If you are a student whose plans, documents or family circumstances have been disrupted by the floods, please talk to us. Lost or damaged academic certificates, bank statements, property papers and passports can usually be replaced, and application deadlines can often be discussed with universities when the reason is genuine. Do not assume your ambition is over because your paperwork is under water. Get in touch with your nearest branch and we will help you work out the next step, at no cost.
How You Can Help
We warmly encourage every individual, organisation and well-wisher to extend a helping hand in whatever way they are able. Contributions of any size add up, and in a crisis of this scale nothing is too small.
- Donate to the official fundThe Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund accepts contributions from within Nepal and from abroad through its official portal, including bank transfer and QR payment.
- Support established humanitarian agenciesThe Nepal Red Cross Society is active across the affected districts with search, rescue, shelter and first aid.
- Give in kind, locallyIf you are in Nepal, coordinate with your ward office or local disaster management committee before collecting goods, so what is sent matches what is actually needed.
- Share verified information onlyRumours cost rescue teams time. The government’s BIPAD disaster information portal carries official incident data.
Please Give Safely
Disasters attract fraudulent appeals. Before you donate, check that the bank account or QR code you have been sent matches the details published on the official government portal, and be cautious with links shared through social media messages or unfamiliar websites. Anyone can print a QR code; only the official channels can be verified. If a request is urgent, emotional and asks you to bypass normal checks, treat it with suspicion.
Standing Together
Nepal has come through hard days before, and it has come through them the same way each time: neighbours reaching for neighbours, communities at home and abroad sending what they can, and people refusing to let each other face it alone. Compassion, love and unity are what remind us that no one is on their own in this.
To every affected family and community: may you find safety, strength and the courage to face the days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we will keep doing what we can alongside you.
